About Thirdle
Updated 2026-06-09
Thirdle is a free daily word puzzle that challenges you to solve three intersecting words arranged in a mini crossword — all in six tries.
What is Thirdle?
Thirdle is a browser-based word game inspired by Wordle, Scrabble, and crossword puzzles. Every day, a new puzzle is published at midnight that is identical for all players around the world.
Unlike a standard Wordle where you guess one word, Thirdle gives you three intersecting words arranged in a compact crossword grid. Shared letters between words add an extra layer of logic that makes each solve uniquely satisfying.
How to play
You start each puzzle with two pre-filled letters — one on the horizontal word and one on the vertical word. Type a word guess and press Enter. After each guess, tiles change color: green means the letter is in the correct position, yellow means the letter is in the word but in the wrong spot, and grey means the letter is not in any of the three words.
You have six attempts to correctly guess all three words. The crossword structure means that a correct letter in one word can unlock the answer in another, so think across all three words at once.
Why we built it
We are a small team of word game enthusiasts who felt that the single-word format of most Wordle clones left room for more depth. The crossword twist in Thirdle creates a richer puzzle experience without making the game feel complicated or time-consuming.
Our goal is simple: give you a satisfying five-minute brain workout every day, for free, with no account needed.
Game modes
Thirdle offers three ways to play. Normal Daily gives you the classic shared puzzle with five-letter words. Bonus Daily features a harder grid with 4, 5, and 6-letter words. Unlimited mode lets you play an endless stream of randomly generated puzzles whenever you want.
Share your results
After completing a puzzle you can share your color-coded result grid with friends — without revealing the answer. This makes Thirdle a great daily talking point on social media and in group chats.
Privacy and data
Thirdle stores your game progress and settings locally in your browser. We do not require an account, and we do not sell your personal data. For full details, please read our Privacy Policy.
